Our Story

myronandphilsWelcome to the Wildwood Tavern, which embraces the traditions from our past and captures the trends of today’s customer. Mark and Ellie Freedman are the proprietors. Mark’s first taste of the restaurant business 40 years ago proved to be one to savor. 1971 is when Freedman started bussing tables at a steakhouse called Myron & Phil’s. Four decades later, Freedman’s passion for the food industry has not changed but only got better. Myron and Phil’s will live on in a new tavern-style restaurant in Niles, Illinois. Ellie joined the team after they got married. Her previous experience in business and in the food service industry provided a natural transition to the family business. After a fire in their previous restaurant, Myron and Phil’s they needed a new home. They found the corner of Touhy and Caldwell as an available site for their new restaurant. Wildwood Tavern opened in late August. They provide their customers with an exceptional dining experience like no other. The menu reflects the best of Myron and Phil with the addition of smoked barbeque, burgers, salads, pizza and great appetizers.

frontWe smoke our own meats, hand cut our own french fries and each menu item has the Wildwood Tavern stamp of approval for quality and freshness. Our food is guaranteed fresh, never frozen homemade goodness with unsurpassed taste and quality. Freedman decided to keep many of the age-old family recipes, the famous chopped liver, skirt steak with burnt onions and shrimp dejonghe. Whitefish, salmon and ribs all have an important place on the Wildwood Menu. There are over 30 seats at the bar where customers can enjoy a few drinks, appetizers and dinner all while watching their favorite sports teams on the large screen TV’s. There are three dining rooms, a screened in porch and an outdoor patio located at the Wildwood Tavern. We feature craft beers from local breweries as well as old time favorites. We have 20 beers on draft and over 30 beers in bottles and cans. The alpine décor creates a relaxing environment for family and friends to gather. “BE A PART OF IT!”
